"Milnor Branch, ND"
One hardly expects to see such a finely polished right-of-way on a branch line in ND. Despite the concentration on static images, it is clear that such high maintenance is merited for the heavy covered hoppers visible in some shots. I think my favorite was the one of a gravel road crossing the tracks at an angle, although picking out one image from the presentation is difficult.
Of course, the billiard-table flatness of the prairies shouts out from each photo. The occasional neat-looking farmhouse isolated in that fastness is impressive, as is the lack of human figures, all speaking to the low population density of that part of the low plains. The lack of activity might be seen as boring by some viewers, but is appropriate to that region. Very evocative.
